Groundhog Shadow Day

Groundhog Job Shadow Day is an annual international effort to acquaint students with the work-world through on-the-job experiences. Dr. Hatala and the AAO are committed to introducing young people to the knowledge and skills they will need to achieve their dreams.

Students shadow Dr. Hatala and his staff as they shed some light on the workings of the practice – from orthodontic examinations and adjusting braces on patients to the use of x-ray machines and computer technology. The importance of interpersonal communication skills is also emphasized. Through their shadowing experience, the students are able to learn about the special skills and education required to become an orthodontist, hygienist, lab technician, or administrative staff member.
